Meade County Performing Arts Council PresentsDown Home Holiday Concert
The Meade County Performing Arts Council, Inc. is planning their third annual fall music program to be held Friday, November 23, 2007 at the Meade High School auditorium at 7:30 pm. This year's program entitled, Down Home Holiday Concert, will be presented by local performers and will offer a variety of styles as well as getting everyone into the holiday spirit with some Christmas music. Performers already scheduled to appear are Barry Ward, Tony, Stevie and Levi McGee, Three-Way Cross, The Clawson Family, and George Lucas. There will be a special patriotic tribute to our veterans and to those who are currently serving our country and may not be able to return home to be with their families for the holidays. Barry Ward will perform an original song from his Passin' Thru CD, Freedom At Last. As a tribute to our veterans, Freedom At Last, earned Barry an invitation to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City on May 30, of 2003. Barry had the honor of being part of The Great American Cowboy Concert featuring the Prairie Rose Wranglers, Roy Rogers Jr., Sons of the San Joaquin, Waddie Mitchell, Joni Harms, and Johnny Western. The planning committee wants to get the word out early so everyone can make plans to attend this special fundraising event. The proceeds from this program will be used to provide musical events for the upcoming 2008 calendar year. Plans are already under way to bring entertainment groups into the Meade County area to support the arts through the Kansas Arts Commission. An added attraction to the program this year will be that the Meade Chamber of Commerce will host “Christmas in the Park,” their annual Christmas lighting with Santa from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm this same evening! Some of the local businesses will remain open late so people can stop in to shop. The Down Home Holiday Concert will then begin at 7:30 pm, making it convenient for everyone to make it to the high school in time. This event has proven to be successful each year, as it provides an enjoyable activity for families to share at holiday time. The Meade County Performing Arts Council wants to provide this event for you to bring your entire family, as well as friends and relatives. A free-will donation will be taken at the door. Refreshments of punch and homemade cookies will be served before the program and during intermission. Make plans to visit Meade, Kansas, on
Friday, November 23, 2007. We look forward to seeing you there! |
